Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
