The Details Known About the Fatalities of the Bondi Terror Attack
No fewer than 16 lives perished and in excess of 40 were hurt when attackers fired on a Hanukah gathering at Bondi Beach, a tragedy Australian police have labeled a terrorist attack.
As of the newest reports, authorities have confirmed the number of fatalities is 16, encompassing one of the suspected gunmen. Moreover, 42 wounded individuals were admitted to the hospital.
Those who died are still awaiting officially identified, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Described as a father of five children, he was the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and friends remembered him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, have his life ended in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She told the events leading up to the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting started. “He pushed his body up because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having experienced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the dead.
In a statement, a senior official declared that France shared the grief of his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must eradicate,” the message read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was a fatality during the attack, as per reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, a significant number are still under care, with several in critical condition. The injured include two officers who attended the scene.
A wounded man is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to tackle one of the gunmen. Hailed as a local hero, he sustained bullet wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Reports indicate he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the incident as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he felt it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the attack. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I sustained a gunshot wound. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
