Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
