The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Attack as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who were killed in the weekend's mass shooting in Providence were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their assailant carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies online, remarking: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were injured in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a search at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke new worry for our community”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering facility on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and schoolmates and grieve for of his promising future.”
